I have been out of blogger land lately with the hustle and bustle of.... THE WEDDING!! We are getting super excited and the countdown is 39 DAYS!! Time is evanescent as we try to pull everything together, as it will be here and over before we know it. Time to savor the last few weeks as 'engagees'! We are having so much fun as the RSVP cards come in- our secret race to be the first one home from work to check the mailbox is ON.
We had such a fun time at the Heit's shower- everything was perfect, of course.. and we got the first real taste of setting up our home with all the gifts we received. Even though it's the same home, using our new spatula is so much different than using the spatula that was salvaged from the old bachelors' loft! I think we are both feeling that importance and specialness that being married brings. We both know you don't HAVE to get married, and marriage doesn't define a couple... but there really is something big and unexplainable about the huge step in commitment and taking it to the next level, and building our home and lives together... that are feeling at this point. The whole roller coaster of emotions that being engaged takes you on is amazing, and I don't think I could have even begun to describe these feelings without taking that time to process what a huge and exciting life change this is. (I could go on forever...).
It's amazing that we've had about a year and a half to soak what married life will be like, the changes it will bring.... but I think it's all just hitting us now. Now that it is almost here and the daydreaming is almost reality. We're almost to the point where we want to just sit and enjoy being married, enjoy a Saturday rather than hurry to get to the fabric store or jeweler before it closes and hurry home to get one last thing done before going to bed or heading to work. Planning and preparing has been so much fun for both of us, but we're finally ready for our lives together to begin! And there is lots more to do in the next 30 days or so until we hop on that jetliner and head to Oregon!
