Waiting...

The time to succumb to any and all cravings has come...
In my "last month of pregnancy" uniform

Just kinda waiting around for baby. Seems strange to have no plans and not want to make any because we may be "busy bringing new life into this world"! Gotta say I've never had that on my three-day-weekend to do list! It has been really nice having Jordan home all weekend, and I was hoping birdie would make his/her appearance while we were just home, hanging out... but no such luck so far! I still plan to not venture far and we are both enjoying the last bits of feathering our nest before full-blown parenthood knocks us on our *sses!

So far, Labor Day Weekend has included no LABOR, but has included eating donuts, baking so much I ran out of sugar AND flour, cooking, rewashing baby's sheets, getting the bassinet all set (again), crafting, a little nursery updating, movie watching, wasting time on the internet, walking, talking, eating, laughing, visiting with friends, trying to sleep, reorganizing the laundry room, dog parking, meeting people in the park, many versions of the name game, watching football, journaling, I'm sure I'm forgetting some highlights..but you get the gist. A whole lotta enjoying our home and each other (and furry friend)... with an occasional tap, tap, tap on the belly to hopefully nudge that little chick out!

I think we can finally say we are 'ready'! Pumpkin spice lattes are here now, baby.. and we think it's time you were too!

Week 36?

Trying to 'document' some of the final weeks. As you can tell, I am getting progressively more tired and haggard looking! I have had a great pregnancy and have pretty much felt as comfortable as I imagine one can possibly feel while carting around a little human and all the extra things that come along with that. I really feel blessed that things have been relatively uncomplicated and I've been up and about feeling pretty great.
Well, I think I'm starting to turn a corner. That corner of the race where you know it is either give it all you got or succumb to that side ache and insatiable thirst and just walk to the finish line. If you've ever run a race, you know that the later is not really an option in this situation, even though it is the only thought that sounds good to your brain and body. But you push on through, and I push on through. There is no stopping now. (And I realize I haven't even gotten to the labor part yet)!
A good night's sleep is progressively getting more stressful. Even the hideous body pillow and the "S" position I worked so hard to perfect the past nine months is starting to let me down. I just can't seem to accommodate the belly. And the potty breaks. Every two hours on the dot last night. I know it is "practice", and I do revel in the silence you can actually hear in this house in the wee hours, but it leaves me with puffy eyes (see pictures) and feeling like a zombie the next morning. I know I am in for it.
I am trying not to complain, I understand this is all part of the process. I'm merely saying: the end is near. My body and my baby are telling me that there is no more room at the inn and it's almost time. I am trying my best to create this balance between rest and clean, organize, reorganize, walk and sit, finish projects and create as many new ones as I can before I run out of time and we are bolting off to the hospital to meet this little bird.
As for the question "Are you ready?", how can one even begin to answer that?! I suppose we are ready. We have the gear. We are registered at the hospital. But can you ever be ready for the biggest thing to happen to you in your life thus far? I'm not sure how you could be.
But here we sit, on the brink of something amazing, wonderful, life changing and miraculous. We begin each day wondering if today will be the day. I can't help but think with each errand, "Will my water break at Trader Joe's?". The countdown is on. Ten days until the actual 'due date'. We wait with anticipation and wonder.

Bump

This little gal used to have a certain favorite spot curled up in a "famous ball" (like a cat, but don't tell her, she hates cats) on my lap. These days, she has been literally bumped out of her spot and tries like hell to still fit. I tell her soon she will fit again... But she will probably have to fight another certain someone for lap time! She's such a good BFF.

Creations for Baby D: Burp Cloth Gallery

Since my camera and computer have stopped corresponding for the time being, (and because I've hit the end-of-pregnancy wall where I just feel exhausted most of the day, AND because I'm lame at posting and keeping up to date here), I have still not posted any pics of the adorable yellow and white polka dot baby shower my sister and mom threw for me at the end of June. It was perfect and so much fun! Hopefully I'll get some pictures loaded soon and do an even later post, but the memories are not forgotten. It was such a fun day with some of my best friends and such a special treat my mom and dad could be in town!

As part of the shower surprise, Lize sent a burp cloth with each invite and asked guests to add their own touch. She had some hanging on a cute little clothesline on display. Others were wrapped with gifts and the shower assistants Jadyn and her friend added them to the line as they were revealed. It was so much fun to see what these talented ladies came up with! She even sent some to long distance guests who were not with us phsyically. Some arrived for the shower and others have been trickling into my mailbox ever since. It is so exciting to receive new ones in the mail!

One of my goals has been to capture some photos these super crafty and special 'burp' cloths- wanted to get some shots before they are in use. I will never forget who made which one, as they all have so much character and meaning. How can I even use these gorgeous creations for spit up?

Feathering the Nest

36 weeks

35 weeks

Jordan mentioned last night while getting into bed that this weekend seemed like a vacation. That's what happens when you spend the last year(s) not ever really getting a full two-day weekend together sans work! It honestly felt like our honeymoon or something! We had such a great time together.

Highlights include- hanging valances, dreams about hanging pictures and then doing it, watching my stomach as the result of someone doing acrobatics while outgrowing their space inside, dinner in Silver Lake at one of our old faves, movies (again!), crying at the movies, remembering where our car was parked, snuggle time with our Cuddle Hound, making freezer meals, picking out wedding gifts, trips to the dog park, irritability broken up by a trip to Radio Shack and a killer mail day, a quick over-the-gate chat with our bffs, swollen feet pregnant lady pedis as a last hurrah before moving day, learning our baby is now a watermelon!, sleeping in, rides on the new swingset at the park, watermelon sorbet, to name a few..

We have three more weeks until our due date and are definitely excited (and nervous)! We are also soaking in all of our 'us' time and are really enjoying each other. Getting ready for our little world we have been in for the past ten years (or so) to get rocked!
